Last August, we had a small post about them maybe making another Underworld movie. This one would follow the Kate Beckinsale story line from the last one. Today, buried in an international industry article at Variety, is the official confirmation that Len Wiseman will indeed be directing Underworld 4 in 3D.

I love the idea of another Underworld movie, but there is one huge flew in their plan to make a four movie. Blood-Disgusting reports Beckinsale wants nothing to do with a sequel for the movie. Beckinsale said she might be up for doing a smaller role in the movie but really had no interest in resurrecting her character.

I really enjoy Beckinsale in the role as a Lycans hunter, but if they really want to put the wind back in the sails of this franchise they should find a way to bring back Rhona Mitra who played the daughter to the head vampire, Viktor. Mitra portrayed her character with grace, beauty, and viciousness required to be a vampire. If I had it my way they could restart the series by have Mitra be a mortal that holds the key to rebuilding the vampire nation in her blood, the son of Lucian (Michael Sheen) hunting her to stop the reconstitution of the vampire line. Any who, I;m glad they’re making another Underworld.
