DreamWorks Banking on Robocalypse

robot

DreamWorks is a busy place to be right now. Last week they bought the rights to the Nancy Holden series “Wicked” (an Awesome series), and today they have acquired the rights to Daniel H. Wilson’s unpublished manuscript, “Robocalypse,”

Everybody and their mother is probably thinking the same thing “do we need another robots take over the world movie i.e. Terminator”. The answer to that is HECK yes we do! Who doesn’t love a good us against them movie?

The reason this book has peaked my interest is the author Daniel H. Wilson is a actual Ph.D. robotic engineer, and his take on the robots take over is from a more realistic point of view. According to co-vice president of DreamWorks Mark Sourian “Wilson’s background in robotics and artificial intelligence grounds his story with a frightening level of realism.”

I’m always up for a good Robot movie, but this kind of realism in a story make me want to read the book, and if any of you are interested Wilson has other books that look just as fascinating. They include “Where’s My Jetpack? A Guide to the Amazing Science Fiction Future That Never Arrived,” “How to Build a Robot Army: Tips on Defending Planet Earth Against Aliens, Ninjas, and Zombies” and “The Mad Scientist Hall of Fame: Muwahahaha!” The one book I really want to read with my son and daughter is “Bro-Jitsu: The Martial Art of Sibling Smackdown,” which has been picked up by Nickelodeon to go into production for 2010.
