No sooner does Boondock Saint 2 come out that we get our first news of one of the stars getting a new movie. Sean Patrick Flanery has signed on to star in Scavengers.

Synopsis:

The story follows crews of space scavengers competing for supplies, energy and treasure. When the crew of the Revelator, led by Emerson (Linton), comes across the alien-created Chaos Generator, they must fight to keep it out of the hands of her former shipmate, the sinister Captain Jekel (Flanery). The movie also stars relatively unknown Louise Linton as the captain of the Revelator. Scavengers are just the most recent of indie sci-fi movies. The two current champs of the indie sci-fi genre and received critical acclaim are Moon, and District 9. Moon had the advantage of having actor Sam Rockwell, and District 9 had Peter Jackson overseeing the documentary style flick.

Flanery and Scavenger’s have a lot to live up to right out of the gate. Will Flanery be enough to make this a hit or will it go down as just another crap indie flick trying to follow a Hollywood trend?
