Mr. & Mrs. Smith Prequel?

One of the funnest movies I have ever seen is Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. So today when I found out that Fox’s Regency Enterprises is moving forward with Mr. & Mrs. Jones, a pseudo-prequel, we were STOKED!

The new movie will not include Pitt or Jolie because the prequel is going to be an origin story. Mr. & Mrs. Jones will be a couple of 20 something spies just graduating from the academy and setting up the fake marriage.

 I’m happy that they are making a new movie based on Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but a lot of the charm is going to be missing. Not only did Pitt and Jolie have awesome chemistry but the premise of the spy who got married, but didn’t know the other was working for another agency was classic. In the new movie these spies will know what each other does for a living. What’s the fun in that?
