Bruce Willis Talks Die Hard 5

Talk about news coming out of left field, Bruce Willis announced at the junket for his new movie Cop Out that there is a Die Hard 5 in the making. That’s right, I said Die Hard 5! It seems John McClane will not go gently into that good night. The Die Hard series is one of my favorites, and I hope they make a Die Hard 6, 7, and 8. Although part 8 might be Willis saving his nursing home from some teenage orderlies, I still think Bruce could still pull it off.

Any who, the last of the Die Hard movies wasn’t my favorite but with the addition of Justin Long it made it way more enjoyable. Hopefully for the next one Long will be back as well.

Here’s what Bruce had to say on the subject of Die Hard 5:

It’s all an in-process thing at this point, with no hard details decided upon.

“I would hire Len Wiseman right now,” he said, referring to the director the well-received fourth chapter in the series, 2007 release “Live Free or Die Hard.” He also has an idea of the scope of the next movie, a pretty obvious next step for a series which has gone from “trapped in a building” to “trapped in an airport” to “trapped in New York City” to, most recently, “trapped by the Internet.” So what’s next?

“Well it’s got to go worldwide,” Willis concluded. “That would be my contribution to [the next movie].”

If they are really going to make another Die Hard, I hope it’s an indication that they are going to treat the franchise like the Bond movies. You know, after the original actor leaves we get the new average man hero and the story goes on forever.
